Privacy policy
This policy explains what the Arrows app (“the app”, “we”) and this website collect, why, and the choices you have.
What we collect
| Data | Why |
|---|---|
| A random player ID made by the app, and the player name you choose | To identify you in races, leaderboards and friend lists. You don’t need an email or password. |
| Game progress: levels cleared, stars, best times, hints, streaks, achievements, chosen theme and avatar | To back up your progress and show your rank on leaderboards |
| Daily puzzle times, race results and trophies | To run leaderboards, the Arena and prizes |
| Friends, friend requests and your friend code | So you can add and race friends |
| Device details: platform, OS version, phone model and brand, app version, language and time zone | To fix bugs on specific phones and show daily puzzles at the right local time |
| When you were last online | To show friends that you’re online and to match races |
| A device identifier: the Android ID the phone gives Arrows, or Apple’s identifier for apps from the same developer on iPhone | To find your player again if you reinstall the app on the same phone |
| A push notification token, if you turn on reminders | To send the daily puzzle reminder and alerts about friends, races and prizes |
| How you use the app, through Google Analytics for Firebase: your player ID, screens opened, and game events such as races, hints and tutorial steps | To see which parts of the game work and fix what doesn’t. It isn’t used for ads and doesn’t include advertising IDs. |
What we don’t collect
- Your real name, email address, phone number, contacts or photos.
- Your location.
- Advertising IDs. The app has no ads, and advertising ID collection is turned off.
Where it’s stored
Your progress is saved on your phone and backed up to our game server, hosted by Railway (railway.com) on a PostgreSQL database with a Redis cache. App usage statistics are processed by Google Analytics for Firebase, and push notifications are delivered through Expo and Firebase Cloud Messaging. Data travels over encrypted HTTPS connections. We don’t sell your data or share it with anyone else.
What other players can see
Your player name, avatar, trophies, rank, furthest level and daily times appear on leaderboards and to friends. The top of the trophy, daily and weekly boards (name, avatar, rank, trophies, online status and score) is also shown on this website. Nothing else about you is shown to other players.
How long we keep it
We keep your game data while you play. If you don’t open the app for two years, or you ask us to, we delete it. See Delete your data.
Children
Arrows is suitable for all ages and doesn’t ask for personal information. Player names are public, so children should not use their real name.
